Ask Search Engine – Do You Care About Your Users?

Somehow my default search engine was changed to Ask.com. I was shocked to see the Ask search engine results page for “google keywords.” I was so shocked I took a screen shot. This screen shot was taken on my notebook which has a screen resolution of 1280 by 800.

They manage to cram seven sponsored ads before the first organic result. Only one organic listing is viewable without scrolling. Not only that but three of the seven ads are way off base. There are ads for custom signs, Texas expungement, and smith security.

Here is the screen shot:

In contrast look at Google’s search engine results page for the same keyword phrase. They manage to display six organic listings without you having to scroll.

For a site which has been around for 11 years you would expect a great user experience, however, that is far from the truth. If you make your website for the user then profits will follow.

Best of luck Ask search engine!
